A note about this song:
Being single on the quest to find true love is one of the most difficult places to be in life. God Bless those who find love early in life. You have been spared much heart ache. For some people finding love is a long sought after journey that encounters much heart break along the way.
When I wrote this song I was in this place. I longed for true love and it seemed like it was never going to come. I reached a place in my life where I hated men and did not want to date ever again. I put up a giant wall because I didn't want to subject myself to one more break up. I buried my tears in my music and used writing to cope with loneliness and feelings of abandonment and betrayal.
It's funny because now as I release this song to the world I'm on the flip side. I have found true love and I'm in a very happy relationship. I look back now and although pieces of my past were hurtful I see that if I hadn't experienced my failures I would not be the person I am today nor in love with the person I am with today.
What if we waited our whole life only for fate to be late?
Babe, when I’m with you the stars in the sky align.
How could it not be our time?
What happened to lovers, lovers at last?
I never knew fate could be so cruel.
My destiny left out you and me.
Your stuck my one and only.
Forever in my dreams.
I wish my clock had a stop button like my watch to turn back the hands of time.
You would be in the hands of mine.
I use to think like Bonnie and Clyde cruising in the ride.
Paper chasing stacking high.
Stairs to the big guy.
Heavens like you and I.
I’m about to cross the line.
The flip side of life where the lights shine so bright.
It’s like your stuck in a glass dome.
I can see you I can shake you flip you and break you but I wont.
Like my daddy said the boats only at the dock for so long.
Baby I completely missed that.
What happens if I fall to fast.
I never fate could be so cruel.
My destiny left out you and me.
Your stuck my one and only.
Forever in my dreams.
In his world there’s no clocks.
So we won’t run out of time.
We won’t have to hide, have to lie, keep it all deep inside.
Promise me just this one thing.
Promise to live it up but don’t give it up.
Stand up if you had enough.
You’ll find everything you’ve been looking for now waits at your front door.
I wish my clock had a stop button like my watch to turn back the hands of time.
You would be in the hands of mine.
I never knew fate could be so cruel.
My destiny left out you and me.
Your stuck my one and only.
Forever in my dreams.
Questioning Time
This song is a reflection questioning the outcomes of fate. Looking back at the moments in time you wish you could jump back to. I often wonder how much these memories of another person from our past are engrained in our soul. Think about the chain reaction that occurs from the influence of another. With out these people coming in and out of lives forever or for good we would not reach our destiny of today. I've learned it's best to not turn back the clock or even question the past. But when you're in the midst of a murky storm it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Mistakes
I use to hold remorse with my mistakes but I have come to realize some of my worst mistakes led to my greatest accomplishments. A few years ago I hit a parked car- oops! I left a note and a few weeks later this man called. He said not to worry about it, that it's just a small dent. One thing led to another and that man has through the fate of time become the love of my life. To think, hitting his car was the best mistake I've made yet! I would have never met this amazing person who is now my best friend.
Loyalty
The outcome of the song is to stay loyal to your heart and you will find happiness and love. Endure the heartache and don't give up on what you want in life.

Production
I executively produced Fates Lover. The creation of this song began as a piano ballad with melodic singing. The lyrics and chord progressions came simultaneously. Some songs take me a long time to write but this one was not the case. I wrote the entire song in one day.
Drums
I created a simple looped drum sample for the demo and handed it to drummer, Al Hury. https://www.facebook.com/al.hury.9?fref=ts. Al worked up a storm in the recording studio. I especially love the fast high hats in this song.
Juno
I used a Juno for many of the pads and string sounds in this song. The D-Beam on the Juno is my favorite part of the instrument. I was D-Beaming it up like a crazy theremin lady, for sure!
What's a theremin? Find out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5qf9O6c20o
Yea- trippy right!? When I discovered the theremin it was life changing.
