Happy New Year! I don't know about you, but I'm ready to ring in this new year and embrace a fresh start! This year reminded me of how fragile life is and to focus on what's really important.
2017 was a hard act to follow after I released 3 albums in one year, but I wasn't expecting the personal hardships 2018 slammed my family with. A reminder that sometimes no matter how much effort we make we can't always control life.
My music career had to take the back burner in 2018 as I've dealt with the death of a close family member and being diagnosed with a serious skin condition. Just two days ago I finished my last chemotherapy treatment and now I'm finally getting energy to feel inspired again and connect with my fans. I know it can only get better from here and I'm ready to get back to being myself.
This adversity has shown me a new side of life and filled my mind with the fears of loosing my life and dreams. Making me realize how much gratitude I have that I'm doing something I love with my life. This new mindset is sparking a fire within me to not give up on seeing my artistic passions through and continuing to grow as a music artist. Sick or healthy, rich or poor, I'm still living my best life and making the most of the situation. There was still progress made in 2018 and a lot of hope for 2019.
Here are some of my music career highlights from 2018!
Producing He's Calling Me
MC ZiLL and I were thrown a curve ball when a pastor asked us to write a hip hop song about the story of Moses. Read about the journey to create He's Calling Me.
Performing At The Albright Knox
One of my favorite summer performances this year was getting the opportunity to serenade the jazz cocktail hour at my favorite art museum in Buffalo, The Albright Knox. It was an honor performing in the same space as Beck just a week before. I'm progressing and becoming more comfortable performing with my voice live extreme pedal and Juno D-beam effects. You can check out a video of this performance here...... and another one here.
Being Interviewed On NPR Radio
This interview held place during my recording session at GCR Audio in Buffalo. Highlighting my music lessons and summer benefit project for music is art. Check out the interview here and the action that happened behind the scenes.
