Giving Back
The tour called "Brainwashing The Ride" is using their music and activism to make a difference. This week Katie Ann and MC ZiLL are giving back to their local community in Buffalo with their musical talents. They have 3 different charity events that are each uniquely designed to positively enrich the community.
The University Heights Arts Association presents UHAA! Festival
Saturday 8/15 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church 3107 Main St. Buffalo NY
12:00-8:00pm
Brainwashing The Ride will perform at 5:30pm
Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/352607611606374/
This festival is benefitting UHAA Crawl Partnering Program which promotes supporting local businesses and diverse cultures. Just one of the fun ways UHAA helps to draw shoppers to local stores instead of corporations is by providing art for the local businesses and public spaces.
The festival is an all ages family friendly event that will feature a number of diverse cultural activities, food and entertainment.
Kids Escaping Drugs Benefit
Saturday 8/15 at Stamps 98 Main St. Tonawanda NY
1:00PM-2:00am
Brainwashing The Ride will perform after 9:00pm
Facebook Event:
This event is aiming to raise money for a local drug rehabilitation facility. Sadly all walks of life in the Buffalo community are being affected by the spike in drug users, especially I.V. drugs. This is an attempt to raise money and awareness against using. This is a 16+ until 9pm and 21+ afterwards. This will be an all day event with several bands and other musical acts performing throughout the day.
Katie Ann is hosting her 3rd annual public piano recital to benefit the Music Is Art Organization
Tuesday 8/18 at Ashkers Cafe 1002 Elmwood Ave. 5:00-7:00pm
Music is Art is an organization that inspires the community to ignite its creative voice! One of the many ways they help is by donating musical instruments to schools with kids in high needs. It allows children to learn music who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity. Katie Ann's piano students have created a class CD honoring the MIA board member, Ryan Casullo, who recently unexpectedly passed away earlier this year. The students will release their "I Love MIA" CD at the piano recital. Her class is hoping to raise money for the MIA organization. The children's recital is open to the public and patrons make a cash donation to the cause and/or purchase the class smoothie from Ashkers. A donation jar will be at Ashkers for a week so even if you can't make the recital you can still stop on by the cafe to make a donation.
